Geneva

Geneva is a city in Switzerland that lies at the southern tip of expansive Lac Léman (Lake Geneva). Surrounded by the Alps and Jura mountains, the city has views of dramatic Mont Blanc. Headquarters of Europe’s United Nations and the Red Cross, it’s a global hub for diplomacy and banking. French influence is widespread, from the language to gastronomy and bohemian districts like Carouge.

July is the hottest month in Geneva with an average temperature of 19.5°C (67°F) and the coldest is January at 1.5°C (35°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 10 in July. The wettest month is September with an average of 110mm of rain.

Geneva Airport, formerly and still unofficially known as Cointrin Airport, is the international airport of Geneva, the second most populous city in Switzerland. It is located 4 km northwest of the city centre. It surpassed the 15 million passengers mark for the first time in December 2014.
