Podgorica

Podgorica is the capital and largest city of Montenegro.

The city was known as Titograd  between 1946 and 1992—in the period that Montenegro formed, as the Socialist Republic of Montenegro, part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY)—in honour of Marshal Josip Broz TitoPodgorica's favourable position at the confluence of the Ribnica and Moraca rivers and at the meeting-point of the fertile Zeta Plain and Bjelopavlici Valley has encouraged settlement. The city is close to winter skiing centers in the north and to seaside resorts on the Adriatic Sea.

During the month of May and October you are most likely to experience good weather with pleasant average temperatures that fall between 20 degrees Celsius (68°F) and 25 degrees Celsius (77°F).On average, the warmest month(s) are June, July and August.A lot of rain (rainy season) falls in the month of: January, February, October, November and December.The warmest month is August with an average maximum temperature of 32°C (89°F).The coldest month is January with an average maximum temperature of 9°C (48°F).

The airport is situated 11 km (6.8 mi) south of central Podgorica, in the Zeta Plain, one of the few flat areas of Montenegro suitable for a large airport. The airport is locally known as Golubovci Airport, as it is located within the administrative boundaries of the town of Golubovci.
